I grieve to report that this tree was largely destroyed by a windstorm on 2 December 07. It's broken about 75 feet up. It had been damaged in a storm a few weeks after your lovely photo was taken, so it was really a matter of time. And 750 years is no bad run. Still, I'm grateful to find this picture. The Klootchy Giant was the first old growth tree I ever saw. I had been looking for a good shot of the tree when it was whole. Thank you for having this up.
